Greeting

Dear Friends and Parents,

My name is Douglas Weir and I am the Principal of St. Paul American School – STEM Program in Shanghai, China. We are an elite, STEM-focused international school that is part of the Nacel International School System based out of Minnesota. Our curricula is based on the American model and features a rigorous STEM track and a fantastic Chinese language program.
The strength of our teachers, diversity of our student body, and access to premier facilities and labs are our greatest strengths. We both have access to the first M.I.T. Affiliated Fabrication Lab in China and also to Worldwide Student Programs through the Nacel International School System.
As per our mission statement, one of the main goals of SPAS is to prepare students to achieve professional success in the global community and to become leaders with broad perspectives and high expectations for themselves and others. We look forward to working closely with your students to become the leaders of tomorrow. We welcome all to visit our campus in Shanghai and see the happy, healthy, and enriching learning environment that we have created at SPAS.

Mission

The goal of NISS is to prepare students to achieve professional success in the global community and to become leaders with broad perspectives. Co-founders Jaeho Eohm, Dr. Abraham Ho, and Dr. Frank Tarsitano sculpted these ideas into reality by creating the umbrella program of Nacel International School System. Their vision allowed NISS to create a school system whereby students have the opportunity to study in a variety of countries and cultures and yet study within a similar educational system. The curriculum applied in the schools emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills and intercultural learning within a college preparatory, academic framework.
NISS developed a model high school, St. Paul Preparatory School (SPP), in the United States. Over the last decade, NISS has grown and established schools across the globe. Currently, NISS is expanding its offices to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In addition to that, NISS is laying the foundation for an online high school and college in the classroom, as well as establishing a publication division. Logistics such as site procurement, marketing, staff development, curriculum, accreditation, and integration with other Nacel programs, are managed by a team of experienced administrators in order to maintain quality and continuity among all of the schools.
